The Forge Mechanics Guide

Complete guide to game mechanics and systems in The Forge

Game mechanics describe the fundamental systems that determine how players operate in "The Forge." They define how you move, fight, defend, and manage stamina when encountering enemies.

Light Attack

Light attacks refer to quick M1 attacks made with a weapon. They are the foundation of most combat interactions and are ideal for safely harassing enemies or finishing off low-health targets.

Heavy Attack

Heavy attacks are slower but deal more damage than regular attacks using a weapon. They have a longer charge time but deal significantly higher damage, making them best used when enemies are staggered, unprepared, or locked in an animation state.

Stamina

Players have a limited amount of stamina, which is consumed by dashing, running during combat, and blocking. Proper management of stamina is crucial—running out at critical moments can prevent dodging or defending.

Combat

Players enter combat mode after taking damage or attacking an enemy. In combat, stamina consumption increases when dashing or running, and certain effects may only activate while the player is in "combat" mode.

Blocking and Parrying

Players can reduce incoming damage by blocking. If the timing is perfect and the block is completed instantaneously when an attack hits, a successful parry can temporarily stun the enemy, creating an opportunity for a counter-attack or a strong counter.
